Parkonic rolls out cashless parking at Dubai’s Wafi Mall with automatic Salik payments
First three hours remain free every day
DUBAI – Motorists visiting Dubai's Wafi Mall will now experience a fully ticketless parking system after Parkonic began managing the mall's paid parking facilities.
The new barrier-free solution automatically recognises vehicles on arrival and enables payments through QR codes or motorists' Salik accounts. The move forms part of the operator's continued expansion of smart parking services across the UAE.
Parking charges will apply every day of the week, including public holidays, while traditional parking tickets, cash payments and parking machines have been removed from the site.
How it works
As soon as a vehicle enters the parking area, its licence plate is scanned and recorded digitally, eliminating the need for physical tickets or entry barriers. Visitors can settle their parking fees by scanning a QR code displayed on the site's signage.
If payment is not completed before departure, the applicable amount will automatically be deducted from the motorist's Salik account when exiting the facility.
The operator has also advised that motorists without a Salik account, or those with insufficient balance, must use an alternative payment method before leaving the parking area.
Parking charges
Under the new tariff structure, the first three hours of parking remain free from Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.
After the complimentary period, motorists will pay Dh15 for parking between the third and fourth hour. Every additional hour, or part of an hour, will be charged at Dh10.
Parkonic has also introduced a two-hour cooling period. If motorists leave the car park and wait at least two hours before returning on the same day, they will receive another three hours of free parking.
However, visitors who re-enter Wafi Mall immediately after using their initial three free hours will be treated as a new parking session and will not qualify for another complimentary period unless the two-hour interval has elapsed.
Loading bay vehicles are eligible for one additional hour of free parking after validation.
The operator warned that motorists who fail to pay the applicable parking charges may face fines, blacklisting and, where necessary, legal action.
The launch at Wafi Mall adds to Parkonic's growing portfolio of smart parking locations across the UAE. The company recently began operating paid parking at West Yas Plaza, Yas Bay and Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, selected Choithrams outlets across the UAE, Discovery Gardens in Dubai, and Palm Jumeirah Crescent.
